 Looking for a great place to take horseback riding or driving lessons? The Dell offers it all! Our farm is just a short drive from Thunder Bay, has miles of trails, a big outdoor arena and indoor riding arena with lounge and a beautiful setting.
We have knowledgeable and friendly instructors who will make sure your lesson is useful and fun. On top of that we have a variety of horses, ponies and miniature horses to choose from; no matter your age or experience level, we have a suitable horse for you.
Lesson choices include English and western equitation, jumping, gymkhana, dressage, pleasure riding and driving wagon and/or cart.
Off site lessons are also offered.
Meet the coaches
We have three coaches: Leila (Intermediate to Advanced Riding
Coach), Amanda (Weeknight Beginner to Intermediate Coach), Andrea
(Weekend Beginner to Intermediate Coach) and Luke (Driving Coach).
Leila
Leila has been riding horses since she was 4 years old. She has trained in
many diciplines including gymkhana, western pleasure, english pleasure,
horse trials, diriving, dressage and jumping. She has trained in Florida,
Manitoba and Southern Ontario as well as here in Thunder Bay. Leila enjoys
training young horses as well as teaching people how to ride. She is good
at bringing along a rider from the beginner stages of riding into advanced
arenas and helping them determine where they want to go with their riding
careers. She keeps lessons fun, interactive and upbeat. She has a degree
of Early Childhood Educator from Confederation College and is Child and
Infant CPR certified.
Amanda
 Amanda Carroll leases "Miss Casey"" at the Dell Farm. Amanda is 16 year old and has been riding since she was 11. She is riding Casey since December of 2007. Amanda specializes in dressage and jumping (around 3 feet), and competes in jumpers. She loves riding because of how many new things she gets to learn and the many amazing experiences she gets. Amanda especially loves showing Casey and riding in clinics/lessons. In 2008 she trained in Manitoba with the barn, rode in several clinics, and showed successfully all season. This past season, she enjoyed the lessons with Jose Quina and riding in the Tamie Phillips clinic. She always looks forward to having new friends to ride with!
Andrea
 Andrea is 17 years old and has been riding for 9 years. She currently rides English and is
interested in pursuing more dressage work. She rides a 7-year-old Appaloosa
that she is training, and she loves every minute of it, good and bad. Andrea has tons
of experience. She has worked
with small ponies to draft horses and is experienced in both English and
Western riding styles. Anderea loves introducing people to horses because it is so
rewarding. "Horses are amazing animals, and everyone can find something they
love here at the Dell. All it takes is one horse to touch your heart".
Luke
 Luke has been driving horses all his life and has a great love for working
with the draft breeds. He enjoys training and driving them in all types of
situations from cart to hitch classes. He teaches driving lessons on all
different types of horses such as miniature horses, ponies, light horses and
drafts. He will pair you up with a horse that is right for you to teach you
this old fasioned past time. Luke also enjoys training young or
inexperienced horses to drive. If you have any driving questions or want
structures lessons in driving Luke is available.

***Riders with full leases on lesson/schooling horses are exempt from horse showing fees
